One of focuses has been generating an in vitro cell culture system to mimic the condition in vivo to understand the signal transduction pathway of EGFR, and further to determine the mechanism for enhanced intestinal adaptation by EGF/EGFR axis stimulation.
Richard Schuessler, PhD

Dr. Schuessler has written or co-authored more than 181 scientific publications and has provided immeasurable support for many residents and fellows in their research efforts. He presently oversees and coordinates the activities in the cardiothoracic surgery research laboratories. He also administers the research grants within the division in collaboration with individual investigators.
