Incoming residents take part in a skills lab session as a part of “boot camp” in June 2015. Faculty teach incoming residents how to perform cricothyrotomy and tracheostomy, chest tube insertion, Hasson trocar insertion and laparoscopy, laparotomy, small bowel resection and anastamosis, and stoma creation. Incoming residents are also instructed on the use of electrosurgery and surgical staplers.
