General Surgery Residency Training

All requests for verification of general surgery residency training at Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital should be submitted in writing. Information will not be provided to third parties without written authorization from the current or former trainee.

Requests should include the following information:
– Trainee’s full name
– Date of birth
– Start date of training
– End date of training

Due to the high volume of requests we receive, an administrative processing fee of $75 will be assessed to verify training for individuals who completed or left our program more than 24 months ago. Payment may be made by check or money order.

Please allow 2-4 weeks for processing. Requests will be processed in the order that they are received. For requests that require payment, processing will begin only upon receipt of payment. Requests requiring rush processing will incur an additional $25 fee.

Professional Liability Insurance Information

As employees of Barnes-Jewish Hospital, clinical residents are insured for professional liability while acting within the scope of their duties for Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Coverage is provided through a Self-Funded Trust, as evidenced by a Trust Agreement. The Trust is funded at a level recommended by an independent actuarial consultant.
