Most, if not all, clinicians experience an adverse event during their career. Such an experience is stressful and isolating, and can trigger emotions like anxiety, depression, guilt, and/or embarrassment.
There are colleagues at WUSM who have been through similar events and are trained to provide peer support. They can help get you back to what you do best - provide excellent care for your patients. You are not alone.

Behavioral Health Partners Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is sponsored by BJC HealthCare to provide EAP services to employees and their dependents. Confidential help is available to assist with any personal concern that may disrupt work and home life. Help with stress, family/marital relationships, financial and legal problems, and other personal challenges are available at no cost to you.
Flexible appointment times (day and evening) are available at numerous office locations throughout the metropolitan area. A licensed professional counselor will provide an assessment of the problem and recommend a plan of action that may result in short-term counseling within the EAP and/or a referral to resources within your benefit plan or the community.
